16th Signal Regiment 60s Re-Union Group
October/November 2006

Hi
This is to inform you that after much deliberation & an open vote of members of
our re-union group, Newquay has been chosen as our next re-union venue.
After a long & tedious recce, (Someone had to do it), Noreen & I, along with
Reme & Sue Harper, Ted & Hazel Hebden, Lorrie & Kim Moore and Ted & Gwen Theis,
tracked down a good hotel in Newquay, the Atlantic Hotel. It is on the
headland, close to the town centre and we feel it would serve our needs
admirably.
The hotel is what we would all consider as luxurious, 60+ en suite rooms,
including facilities for the disabled. It is fully equipped with indoor &
outdoor swimming pool, & other keep fit facilities. Also, being on the headland,
most rooms will have a sea view. It has three restaurants, the main dining room
which we would use for breakfast and evening meals, the other two would be
suitable for lunches, if required. The Gala dinner evening would be held in the
ballroom. The food and service we found impeccable.
Next to the hotel is a golf course, so those golfers who are interested – bring
your clubs!! Within the Newquay area itself there is plenty to do, & around
Cornwall there are lots of interesting places within driving distance. Lorraine
will also see if a coach trip would be viable for the Saturday.
However …… places will be limited, 60 rooms (approximately) have been
reserved for us, so it will have to be on a first come first served basis.
Now to the important part:- Dates, prices & deposits!!!
The date of the re-union is Friday, Saturday & Sunday 26, 27, 28th
October 2007
Price per person per night, DBB, (including gala dinner Saturday evening), is
£58.00 pp, which works out at £348.00 per double room for the 3 nights. (Those
who cannot make the 3 nights, the price is the same PPPN pro rata. i.e. £58.00).
For those who would like to spend extra nights either before or after the
weekend, we will see if we could negotiate the same price for those extra
nights. (Noreen and I are hoping to spend two extra nights before the weekend
event, i.e Wednesday and Thursday). Those interested, please inform us asap
Deposits!!
There always seem to be some misunderstandings whenever there is a large group
involved in re-unions. We feel that we need to be more organised about deposits
and final payment, therefore we are asking you to settle the balance of your
account prior to the weekend. Please do not be offended, that is not the
intention. The aim is for everything to run as smoothly as possible and make it
a great weekend for us all, so your help in this matter would be greatly
appreciated.
Deposits required:-
£48 per person. To be paid by February 28th 2007.
Remaining balance required by August 31st 2007.
Anyone who has not paid in full by the final payment date will need to deal through the hotel itself.
