Discussion of increase in subscriptions

Trevor Davis put a proposal of £10 per person as he felt that more money was needed to enable us to do more for the membership.

John Dixon proposed an increase to £15 per household

Noreen Dixon thought that maybe it should be £10 per serving member.

Chris Abbott also pointed out that there was a 4th proposal and that was to leave the subs as they were.

There followed quite a lively discussion amongst the members and the proposals were put to a show of hands. Teri Crow told the membership how much she appreciated the support of everyone and the flowers she received and said that £10 per person was worth every penny. The majority decided that the subs should increase to £10 per person as from now.

The secretary had been in touch with the Royal Signals Association to find out whether it was worth our while to become affiliated. It was put to the membership and it was agreed that there was no advantage in joining.

Lorraine Moore suggested that we had an entertainments committee to help share the load of organising the reunions.

The raffle at the Gala Night raised £269

                         Sid’s pic raised £47

An auction of two unclaimed raffle prizes raised £44

                        Marlene’s hats raised £42

                        Total raised £402

Lorraine Moore said that she would send the ladies group photo to the Lioness for publication.

Gordon Harper said that he would write to the Wire and send the group photo that had been taken beside Loch Lomond

It was put to the membership that more contributions to the magazine were needed to keep it lively and interesting.

The website was now up and running again and contributions were needed.

Venues for 2005

Gordon Harper had received details from the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Loughborough for £122 per person for three-night bed, breakfast and evening meal with a Gala Dinner and a room for the A.G.M.

Sis Wilson had also received details for Nid Hall near Harrogate but it was £210 per person and it was decided that it was perhaps a bit too expensive.

The membership decided that Loughborough ought to be the next venue and the booking should go ahead.

Gordon felt that as he had taken on the role of chairman it would be impractical to try and organise the next reunion and so Hazel Hebden offered to take over the organising as long as she could call on Gordon’s expertise if needed.

Audrey Grainge suggested that maybe a badge; brooch could be designed for the ladies as the men had a Krefeld tie. She said that she would find out if we could get one designed.

Evie Radford told the membership that she had put photos of the Torquay reunion on disc and was selling them at £5 each for the club funds.

Sid Wilson informed the membership that now you could access the confidential records that the army held and gave the membership the website to visit.

Marlene O’Hagan asked all the membership to let her have any wool that they had so that she could make small patchwork quilts for animals at the R.S.P.C.A. and P.D.S.A. She said that she would donate them in the name of the club.

Hazel and Ted Hebden were thanked for the years they had served as secretary and chairman and the rest of the committee were thanked for all their hard work in making the reunion such a good one.

Hazel Hebden Secretary
